The Swabian Farm Museum in Illerbeuren, the first open-air museum in southern Germany, presents the cultural landscape of old Swabia and the Allgäu. More than 30 houses, including houses, workshops, stables, gardens and fields, document the life and history of the region. Visitors can trace the different ways of building and living back to the 17th century.
The farm museum park also includes cottage gardens, fields and over 80 apple and pear varieties that have become rare. Domestic breeds, such as the Allgäu Original Braunvieh, the Zaupelschaf or the Swabian-Hall pig, can also be seen on site.
In the Swabian Farm Museum Illerbeuren you can experience Swabia's history in 3D. When you enter the historic building, you can feel the past up close! An entertaining and varied range of exhibitions and events for all age groups, guided tours and museum educational programs complete the offer.
