The Antonierhaus is a unique place that functions as a museum house, city library and central event location. One of the museums in the Antonierhaus is the Strigel Museum, which is dedicated to the paintings and sculptures of the Strigel family of artists from Memmingen. Here visitors can admire works of art from the late Gothic and early Renaissance period in contemporary rooms and learn more about the Strigel family of artists and their social position.
Another museum in the Antonierhaus is the Antoniter Museum, which is dedicated to the history of the Hospitaller Order of the Antonites. The museum explains the work and life of the Antoniter and their merits in combating the disease ergot smut. The exhibition also sheds light on the functioning of a medieval special hospital and shows finds from the excavations in the Antonierhaus as well as archival sources that illustrate the everyday life of the sick and clergy. The Antonier House itself is also an impressive structure, built by the Order of the Antonites in the late 15th century. It's worth a visit!
